A. try to ... and try -ing
1. try to do
try to do = attempt to do / make an effort to do
意思：
努力去做某事 / 试图做某事
重点是：
你想把这件事做成功。
2. tried to keep
I was very tired. I tried to keep my eyes open, but I couldn’t.
我非常累。
我努力想让眼睛保持睁开，但做不到。
这里：
try to keep
表示：
努力去保持。
但结果：
没成功。
3. try to be
Please try to be quiet when you come home.
你回家的时候尽量安静一点。
Everyone will be asleep.
大家都会已经睡着了。
结构：
try to + verb
4. try something / try doing something
try something / try doing something
表示：
把它当成一种尝试、实验或测试
也就是：
“试试看这样做有没有效果。”
重点不是“努力完成”，而是：
尝试一种方法，看结果怎么样。
5. try one
These cakes are delicious. You should try one.
这些蛋糕很好吃。
你应该试一个。
解释：
= have one to see if you like it
也就是：
吃一个试试看你喜不喜欢。
6. tried every hotel
We couldn’t find anywhere to stay.
我们找不到地方住。
We tried every hotel in the town, but they were all full.
我们把镇上的每一家酒店都试过了，但都满了。
解释：
= we went to every hotel to see if they had a room
也就是：
我们一家一家去问，看有没有房间。
7. try doing
A:
The photocopier doesn’t seem to be working.
这台复印机好像坏了。
B:
Try pressing the green button.
试试按绿色按钮。
解释：
= press the green button — perhaps this will help to solve the problem
也就是：
按一下绿色按钮试试看，也许能解决问题。
结构：
try + -ing

I didn’t like the way the furniture was arranged, so I tried moving the table to the other side of the room.

解释：
I tried moving it = I moved it to see if it looked better.
这里：

等于：

如果意思是“努力做”：

不要机械说：

因为后者更偏向：

如果意思是“试试这个方法”：

错误：
❌ My phone needs to charge.
如果意思是：
手机需要被充电
正确：
My phone needs charging.
或者：
My phone needs to be charged.

can’t help
