A. nice of you, nice to me

nice / kind / good / generous / polite / honest / stupid / silly etc. OF somebody (to do something)

当我们评价某人做某件事的行为或表现时,可以使用:

adjective + of + somebody + to do something

常见搭配:

nice of somebodykind of somebodygood of somebodygenerous of somebodypolite of somebodyhonest of somebodystupid of somebodysilly of somebody

Examples:

  • Thank you. It was very nice of you to help me.
  • It was stupid of me to go out without a coat in such cold weather.

(be) nice / kind / good / generous / polite / rude / friendly / cruel etc. TO somebody

当我们描述某人对另一个人的态度或行为时,使用:

adjective + to + somebody

常见搭配:

nice to somebodykind to somebodygood to somebodygenerous to somebodypolite to somebodyrude to somebodyfriendly to somebodycruel to somebody

Examples:

  • They have always been very nice to me. (not with me)

  • Why were you so unfriendly to Lucy?


OF 和 TO 对比

adjective + OF somebody

强调:

评价这个人的某个行为

例如:

It was kind of you to help me.

你帮助我真是太好了。


adjective + TO somebody

强调:

某人对另一个人的态度

例如:

You are always kind to me.

你一直对我很好。


对比

It was nice of you to help me.

你能帮助我,真是太好了。

You are always nice to me.

你总是对我很好。


B. adjective + about / with

1. angry / annoyed / furious / upset ABOUT something

对于某件事情感到生气、恼火、不高兴:

angry about somethingannoyed about somethingfurious about somethingupset about something

Example:

  • There’s no point in getting angry about things that don’t matter.
  • Lisa is upset about not being invited to the party.

angry / annoyed / furious / upset WITH somebody FOR doing something

对于某个人生气:

angry with somebodyannoyed with somebodyfurious with somebodyupset with somebody

如果进一步说明:

因为这个人做了某事

使用:

with somebody for doing something

Example:

  • Are you annoyed with me for being late?

结构:

annoyed with me for being late

其中:

  • with me → 对谁生气
  • for being late → 因为什么生气

about / with / for 思维模型

angry WITH somebody 对某人生气

angry WITH somebody FOR doing something 因为某人做了某事而对他生气

例如:

I’m angry about the problem.

我对这个问题很生气。

I’m angry with Tom.

我生 Tom 的气。

I’m angry with Tom for breaking my phone.

我因为 Tom 弄坏了我的手机而生他的气。


2. excited / worried / nervous / happy etc. ABOUT something

常见结构:

excited about somethingworried about somethingnervous about somethinghappy about something

Example:

  • Are you nervous about the exam?

3. pleased / satisfied / happy / delighted / disappointed WITH something you get or experience

对于得到的东西或经历的事情感到满意、高兴、失望等:

pleased with somethingsatisfied with somethinghappy with somethingdelighted with somethingdisappointed with something

Examples:

  • They were delighted with the present I gave them.
  • Were you happy with your exam results?

ABOUT 和 WITH 对比

例如 happy 可以同时与 about / with 搭配:

happy about something

因为某件事情而感到高兴。

happy with something

对某个结果、东西或经历感到满意。

例如:

I’m happy about your good news.

听到你的好消息我很高兴。

I’m happy with my new computer.

我对我的新电脑很满意。


C. adjective + at / by / with / of

1. surprised / shocked / amazed / astonished / upset AT / BY something

常见搭配:

surprised at/by somethingshocked at/by somethingamazed at/by somethingastonished at/by somethingupset at/by something

Examples:

  • Everybody was surprised at the news. or ... by the news.

  • I hope you weren’t shocked by what I said. or ... at what I said.


AT / BY

这里很多情况下 atby 都可以:

surprised at the news

surprised by the news

shocked at what happened

shocked by what happened


2. impressed WITH / BY somebody/something

impressed with somebody/something

或者:

impressed by somebody/something

Example:

  • I’m very impressed with (or by) her English. It’s very good.

3. fed up / bored WITH something

fed up with something

bored with something

Example:

  • I don’t enjoy my job any more. I’m fed up with it.
  • I don’t enjoy my job any more. I’m bored with it.

fed up with

fed up with 是非常常用的表达:

be fed up with something

表示:

对……受够了 对……厌烦了

例如:

I’m fed up with this weather.

我受够这种天气了。


4. tired OF something

tired of something

Example:

  • Come on, let’s go! I’m tired of waiting.

结构:

be tired of + noun / -ing

例如:

I’m tired of this job.

我厌倦了这份工作。

I’m tired of waiting.

我等烦了。


tired of 和 tired from 的区别

本单元重点:

tired of something

表示:

厌倦某件事

例如:

I’m tired of working every weekend.

我厌倦了每个周末都工作。

而日常表达中的:

tired from something

通常强调:

因为某件事情而身体疲劳

例如:

I’m tired from working all day.

我工作了一整天,很累。

所以:

tired of = 厌烦

tired from = 因……而疲劳


D. sorry about / for

1. sorry ABOUT a situation or something that happened

对于某种情况或者已经发生的事情感到遗憾:

sorry about something

Examples:

  • I’m sorry about the mess. I’ll clear it up later.
  • Sorry about last night. (= Sorry about something that happened last night)

2. sorry FOR / ABOUT something you did or caused

如果是对于自己做过或造成的事情表示歉意,可以使用:

sorry for ...

或者:

sorry about ...

Examples:

  • I’m sorry for shouting at you yesterday. (or sorry about shouting)

  • Sorry for the delay. (or Sorry about the delay)


sorry for + -ing

非常常见的结构:

I’m sorry for doing something.

例如:

I’m sorry for being late.

抱歉我迟到了。

I’m sorry for shouting at you.

很抱歉我冲你大喊了。


I'm sorry I did something

也可以直接使用:

I'm sorry + subject + verb

Example:

  • I’m sorry I shouted at you yesterday.

也就是:

I’m sorry for shouting at you yesterday.

I’m sorry I shouted at you yesterday.


3. feel / be sorry FOR somebody in a bad situation

当某人处于不好的情况,我们对他表示同情、难过时:

feel sorry for somebody

be sorry for somebody

Example:

  • I feel sorry for Mark. He’s had a lot of bad luck. (not I feel sorry about Mark)

sorry about 和 sorry for 的核心区别

sorry about + situation

对某件事情感到抱歉 / 遗憾

例如:

I’m sorry about the accident.

我对这次事故感到遗憾。


sorry for + doing

对自己做的某件事情表示歉意

例如:

I’m sorry for breaking your phone.

很抱歉我弄坏了你的手机。


sorry for + somebody

同情某人

例如:

I feel sorry for him.

我很同情他。
